An anthology celebrating new forms of masculinity

Edited by Rick Dove, Aaron Kent, and Stuart McPherson

We are open to submissions for a new poetry anthology entitled Masculinity: An anthology of modern voices edited by Rick Dove, Aaron Kent, and Stuart McPherson. The anthology intends to dissect the theme of masculinity, including but not limited to toxicity, fragility, and unhealthy societal norms. Our aim is to raise further discussion on this important subject and provide a diverse representation of perspectives as to what masculinity might actually mean in a modern context.

The anthology is open to anyone identifying as male, with all royalties going to frontline men’s mental health charities (Charity TBC.) We are looking for work that isn’t afraid to be vulnerable, that breaks down barriers, and that allows a contrast to mainstream notions of masculinity. Confirmed poets so far include Andrew McMillan, Casey Bailey, Ian Duhig, Michael Pedersen, Bobby Parker, and Peter DeGraft Johnson.

Please send no more than 5 unpublished poems to with the subject line ‘Masculinity Anthology’. Please include a short bio with your submission. Please send word document or PDF, do not send external links to work, this will be disregarded.

Submissions close: 14th May, 2023. We aim to respond to all submissions within 6 weeks of the closing date.
