None of Us Will Be Okay by Liza Costello is a taut, emotionally layered collection of interconnected stories exploring dislocation, intimacy and rupture across personal and political terrains. Traversing psychiatric institutions, troubled relationships, sunlit piazzas and Guatemalan backroads, the narratives centre voices negotiating memory, trauma and desire in language that is spare yet quietly propulsive. Costello renders each interior crisis, postpartum psychosis, betrayal, estrangement, grief, with stark clarity and devastating calm, allowing meaning to accrue in gesture, omission and atmosphere. Unfolding with a cinematic sense of rhythm and control, this is fiction that unsettles gently but decisively, refusing neat resolution in favour of truth’s more fragmented shapes.
