Period poverty is a worldwide issue and affects millions of women, girls, and people who menstruate who struggle to afford or access safe menstrual protection. The economic, social and environmental impacts of period poverty are huge, with many of those affected restricted from equal education and job opportunities simply due to their periods.
Penelope Shuttle lives in Cornwall, and her most recent full collection, her 13th, is Lyonesse, Bloodaxe, June, 2021. She enjoys collaborative working, and in September 2021 Broken Sleep published her and Alyson Hallett's pamphlet of sonnets, Covid/Corvid.
